Get The Look: Emma Stone's Oscars Makeup

She took the gong for Best Actress and showed she could stay cool under pressure when the award for Best Picture was mistakenly handed to her and the La La Land crew and then promptly snatched back again - but it was her gorgeous makeup that had us absolutely swooning here at Beautiful Because headquarters. In this feature we show you how to recreate Emma’s magical look using some of our favourite natural cosmetics.

Step 1: Start with a matte or semi-matte foundation and apply with a foundation brush starting from the centre of your face and working outwards. After your base is applied, you can add a little extra coverage where needed by using a small amount of concealer. We love Inika Certified Organic Liquid Mineral Foundation and Vapour Illusionist Concealer.

Step 2: Sweep a shimmery champagne eyeshadow across your eyelids and up to your brow bones, applying a little extra near the inner corner of your eyes to help brighten them and make them pop. Next, define the outer corners of your eyes with a chocolate shade of eyeshadow, and work the shadow up towards the centre of your eyelids and sweep a little underneath the lower lash line as well.

Step 3: Apply a subtle amount of jet-black kohl eyeliner to the upper lash line, making the line slightly thicker towards the outer corners of your eyes. Next, apply two coats of black mascara to your lashes to build them up to fluttery, feathery proportions.

Step 4: Using an eyebrow pencil or gel, carefully fill out and thicken up your brows using small, feathery strokes. Less is more here, so be sure to use a light hand and avoid harsh, bold lines – little flicks of the eyebrow pencil or brush is the key to achieving a natural look.

Step 5: It’s time to apply that saucy statement lip colour! Look for a deep, dark red with chocolate undertones. It you’re feeling brave and want a colour that’s a bold as Emma’s, try Karen Murrell Lipstick in Scarlet Blaze, Nudus Organic Lipstick in Dirty Diana, or Vapour Siren Lipstick in Bold. If you would prefer something a little more understated, Ere Perez Olive Oil Lipstick in Dance is the perfect option as it captures this colour brilliantly but will have a slightly sheerer finish.

Step 6: Finish by applying a tiny amount of blush to the apples of your cheeks. Use your fingertips to blend cream blush perfectly, otherwise use a blush brush if you’ve opted for a powder formula. A peachy-pink hue will work nicely on fairer skin tones, but if you have olive or dark skin you might like to try a deeper shade of blush such as Lily Lolo Pressed Blush in Coming Up Roses.
