NYFW SS14 Trend - Natural Makeup

One of the key makeup trends sported at NYFW SS14 last week was natural makeup, nude lips and nails, and this look has to be BB's fave!

In addition to the orange lip trend, this natural beauty look rocks and there's no need to wait until Northern Hemisphere spring (our Autumn) to try it as it's already spring time here!

Seen on the runway for Elie Tahari, minimal makeup was kept dewy. The Bobbi Brown makeup team used nude and soft pink tones to create a feeling of effortlessness. Head makeup artist Marc Regan, said the inspiration was a timeless fresh face. Bobbi Brown's makeup team were the perfect for achieving this, since it's Bobbi Brown's own personal mission, to enhance every individual woman's natural beauty, that inspires her.

Here's how to achieve such radiant beauty with natural and organic makeup products.

Get the Look

Radiant Base

The model's flawless, fresh complexion and healthy glow is what stands out here. Use a hydrating moisturiser as a makeup base. Kosmea's Replenishing Moisturiser Cream plumps and hydrates skin and creates the perfect canvas for foundation.

A liquid foundation is also required for a radiant, dewy finish. We recommend Ere Perez's Oat Milk Foundation

Oh and statement brows are still a staple look for SS14, no need to over pluck, just comb them in place for a natural finish.

Natural Eyeshadow

Use a cream or peach matt eyeshadow to get a natural, smooth finish on the eyelids. To add an extra dimension to the look, use a shimmery white shade just on the inner corners and lower lash line – white eyeshadow was seen on the runway too, including at Altuzzara and Tibi. Ere Perez's natural eyeshadow in From Beginning To End contains a cream matt and ivory shimmer – a more subtle take on the look for every day.

Liquid Eyeliner

A bold, eyeliner line on the upper lash line is a key feature of this look. Nvey Eco's award winning High Definition Cake Eyeliner in Black, can be used wet to achieve a liquid finish. Check out are article on applying winged eyeliner for further advice.

Black Mascara

Mascara is very subtle, more to add colour rather than volume. Choose a natural finish lengthening mascara, Ere Perez's Natural Almond Oil Mascara in Black gives a soft, glossy finish and just enough definition.

Nude Lips

Lips are a fresh take on nude, in soft pink. Instead of opting for a traditional barely there tone, choose a soft, pinky nude shade with a matt finish. We love Bite Beauty's High Pigment Pencil in Madeira – an elegant nude pink providing beautiful, high pigment colour.

Add a very soft, sweep of peach blush to lift the complexion and highlight the cheekbones. Nvey Eco's Organic Blush in Blushing Sunset is perfect to brighten the complexion.

Soft Pink Nails

There's no denying that white nails are in fashion for SS14, seen at a number of fashion shows, including Cushnie et Ochs, as are nude and baby pink. If you are not quite brave enough to go for the bright white yet, go for a baby pink instead. Apply two coats of Butter London's 3 Free Nail Lacquer in Teddy Girl to achieve the look.
