Autumn Natural Makeup Trends 2015

Crisp, fresh mornings, sunny days and cool evenings in Sydney, make Autumn one of my favourite times of year. The change in season calls for a chance to change that makeup wardrobe, with the gorgeous colours of fall as your inspo – golds, reds and browns – are beautiful in makeup. Here are some pieces I love for this time of year and trends for 2015.

Autumn Makeup trends

Burgundy, Wine & Red Lipsticks

A classic makeup look that's not only easy to do but looks so sophisticated day or night, is pairing a deep lipstick with natural eye makeup. You really only need a sweep of mascara on the eye, if you want to let your lips speak the volume. Trendy seasonal lipstick shades include brown-based burgundies, plum-based wines and every shade of red – whichever is your favourite! Pair with a complimentary nail shade, from non-toxic brand Zoya and you'll be good to go!

Gold, Green & Brown Eye Makeup

If you are not into lippies, but love to wear eye makeup, pair a bare or nude lip with seasonal eyeshadow shade – golds, greens and browns are all stunning. While golds look especially beautiful on brown eyes, greens are perfect for hazel eyes and brown compliment blue eyes, especially warmer, earthy tones. Add some lashings of your fave natural mascara to complete your eye makeup.

Highlighted Skin

A stunning trend seen on the runway for autumn/winter 2015 is highlighted, luminous skin. With less UV exposure at this time of year, you can trade your heavy zinc oxide tinted moisturiser for a lightweight mineral one, or foundation with a luminous finish. Alternatively, add a little liquid highlighter to your regular foundation. Dab highlight in all the places which naturally catch the light – cheek bones, brow bones and cupid's bow. You could also use a ntural oil as a makeup base, such as Vitamin E to add that healthy radiant glow.

If you are an absolute makeup lover who likes to experiment; bold, bright and multi-shades have also been seen gracing the catwalks. Now this isn't the 1980's, makeup artists are giving a modern twist to this retro look! Try experimenting with two or three complimentary eye shades such as gold/yellow and blue, mauve and grey, pink and green. This also means blue eyeliner is in!

Metallics & Frosts

In keeping with the luminous skin trend – you are also (officially) allowed to add another old favourite (1990's?) to your eye and lip makeup this fall, go for metallic or frost eye and lip finishes. Frosty pinks, shimmery golds, icy blues and metallic greys. Channel your inner diva! I absolutely love these!

So there you have some makeup inspiration to see you through this Autumn. Although it's fun to experiment with makeup, find the shades and formulas that suit you and you feel confident wearing year around, no matter if they're in-fashion or in-season.
