Everyday Cleansing Ritual for Beautiful Skin

It is easy to forget just how important cleansing well is to the health and appearance of your skin, and the effectiveness of your skincare regimen. Not only is cleansing a daily necessity for optimum skin function, but should be a holistic experience and enjoyable daily ritual. So for clear, fresh and radiant skin, try cleansing your skin each evening in the following way.

You will need a makeup remover oil, cream cleanser and muslin face cloth. It is best to do the cleansing ritual at your bathroom sink so you have access to warm water.

Step 1:

Remove your eye makeup with jojoba or coconut oil. Apply a couple of drops of the oil to two, damp eye makeup remover pads. Close your eyes and work the pads from inner to outer eyes. Repeat until the makeup is removed.

Step 2:

With damp fingers apply your chosen natural cream cleanser (cream formulas are the most gentle kind of cleanser – you may prefer a foam or oil formula) to your face (skin should be dry or only slightly damp). Gentle massage the cream cleanser in circular motion to ensure dirt, makeup and oil adheres.

Step 3:

Soak and ring out your muslin or face cloth in warm water, using the sink or a bowl. Unfold the cloth and place over your face. Hold for a few seconds so the heat opens your pores, breath and relax, before wiping away your cream cleanser. Start at your forehead and work down the face. Repeat by soaking and ringing the cloth if necessary. Gently pat your face with a clean towel. Next apply your serum or moisturiser to slightly damp skin.

The reason I use a muslin cloth is because not only are they a clean, natural material that's easy to look after, but the natural gauze-like effect of the material has gentle exfoliant properties, helping renew your skin daily.

So there you have my regimen which only takes a few minutes. Cleansing your skin like this is like having a mini-facial every day! The salon-worthy ritual gives great results and ensures optimum effects of your skincare. It is so unhealthy for our skin if we forget to wash away the dirt, grime and pollutants of our day or leave makeup up at night. Although natural makeup is healthy and pure, our skin still likes a chance to breath!
