The Benefits of Facial Rollers

If you are one for following beauty trends on Instagram, you can't have missed all the facial rollers filling your feed over the last year! These beauty tools aren't some nouveau technical breakthrough in skincare at all, but a staple in traditional Chinese skincare for thousands of years, believed to have healing and protective properties. At Beautiful Because we stock a few options. (Please note: we are currently changing suppliers and will have more stock soon) Discover the benefits below.

The handheld massagers are usually dual-ended with two jade / rose quartz or amethyst stone heads to help boost circulation, reduce puffiness, smooth wrinkles and assist your natural face oils and serums to reach deeper layers of your skin, rather than just sit on the surface. Essentially, they're a quick mini-facial to help keep daily skincare struggles at bay, such as dark circles and puffiness. The increase in circulation is what can help improve the appearance of skin.

We think the greatest benefit of using a facial roller is how it can assist in reducing inflammation caused by stagnation of the lymphatic system, through the massage technique. Other benefits include brightening complexions, tightening pores (especially if you put it in the fridge for a few minutes before using!), reducing the appearance of wrinkles and increasing blood flow.

When massaging your face with the roller, start at the centre of your face, under the eyes and cheekbones, and move out towards your hairline. Next, move down towards the jawbone, starting at the centre of the chin and moving out towards the bottom of the ear. Finish by rolling down the sides of the neck towards the centre of the clavicle. This traditional, Ayurvedic method is said to send toxins built up in the facial tissue towards the centre of the body, where they can be better detoxified through our system.

When using a facial roller with other skincare products, in particular a facial oil such as rosehip, the tool will not only glide better, but work a little extra magic by helping your facial oil or serum target the areas that need it most.
